Get Started with Flower BPM for Confluence
Overview
Flower BPM for Confluence allows users to embed BPMN diagrams directly into Confluence pages. While BPMN models are created and edited in Jira, their latest versions can be displayed seamlessly within Confluence documentation.
One might expect BPMN modeling and editing to take place in Confluence itself, but Jira is a much better fit due to its powerful JQL-based search capabilities and its deep integration with Jira automation through issues and workflows.
How It Works
If both Flower for Jira and Flower for Confluence are installed, users can add the Flower BPMN View Macro to any Confluence page. This macro allows selecting and embedding BPMN models from the Flower Process Repository in Jira.
However, Flower BPM for Confluence can also function without Flower for Jira. In this case, users can attach BPMN files directly to a Confluence page, and the macro will render them for viewing.
Use Cases
Flower BPM for Confluence is ideal for:
- Embedding professional procedural instructions
- Displaying automation guidelines
- Documenting business process workflows without requiring Jira access
Next Steps
- Install Flower BPM for Confluence from the Atlassian Marketplace.
- If using the Flower Process Repository, ensure that Flower for Jira is also installed.
- Open a Confluence page and add the Flower BPMN View Macro.
- Select an existing BPMN model from Jira or upload a BPMN file as an attachment.
- Save and publish the page to view the embedded BPMN diagram.
This setup enables teams to maintain up-to-date, structured process documentation directly within Confluence, while leveraging Jira for process execution and automation.
