Gain Insights into Your BPMN Processes
Monitor & Optimize
Process automation is not just about execution—it’s also about tracking, analyzing, and optimizing workflows.
Flower provides built-in reporting as well as full integration with Jira’s reporting capabilities.
Visualizing Process Activity in Flower
For a quick real-time overview of all running process instances, Flower offers a model report.
To access it, simply click on the reporting icon on your BPMN model card:

This opens a modal window with key insights, including:
- Number of open & completed process instances
- Task distribution per BPMN activity
- A pie chart showing instance count per activity
Task Count per BPMN Activity

Each slice in the pie chart represents the number of active Jira issues per BPMN activity.
This helps identify bottlenecks—for example, if too many tasks are stuck in a specific activity.
Advanced Reporting with Jira
Beyond the built-in report, all Jira reporting tools can be used to analyze Flower processes.
Since every BPMN element is stored as a Jira issue, you can leverage:
- JQL queries to filter and track process instances.
- Jira’s native reports, such as:
- Time in Status Reports → Measure how long tasks stay in each BPMN activity.
- Control Charts → Track lead times and identify inefficiencies.
- Created vs. Resolved Reports → Monitor process throughput.
- Custom Jira dashboards to visualize process performance.
- Marketplace reporting apps for advanced analytics.
Example: Applying Jira’s Time in Status Report to BPMN Activities
Jira’s built-in Time in Status report can be applied to BPMN activities,
helping process owners understand where tasks take the longest and identify potential optimizations.
Summary
- Flower provides a built-in activity report with instance count per BPMN activity.
- Jira’s full reporting suite can be applied to process data.
- JQL & Jira dashboards allow flexible tracking and analysis.
- Marketplace apps extend reporting capabilities for deeper insights.
By combining Flower’s BPMN model reports with Jira’s powerful reporting tools, you can continuously monitor, optimize, and improve your business processes.
